Daddy Diary: Ayesha's world of Night Garden

During the weekdays lola feeds Ayesha her breakfast and lunch. Since she moved to solids, Ayesha at times needs distractions to continue her meal. So lola usually turns on the childrens program on ABC. Last couple of months, she has been keen on one particular programme - In the Night Garden. And it appears she also has a favorite character, Igglepiggle.

It is fascinating seeing her so engrossed with the dreamy world of Night Garden. True to the programme's intention, it really calms her down and lets her focus. More exciting, for us the parents, is identifying our daughter's first love. While she loves the entire programme, the sight of Igglepiggle on screen gets her excited with her arms up in the air.

So it did not come as a surprise when we went shopping for Christmas gifts. As we trolled through the toy aisles, we bumped into the Night Garden family (soft toys). We decided to let Ayesha take her pick - between Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka. Well, guess what, she knew what she wanted. It was Igglepiggle. Just the sight of him brought smile to her face. That is such a pleasant thing to watch.

And since last week, Igglepiggle is her bed-buddy.
